I’ve been busy getting ready for you!
You know that feeling in your stomach as you’re getting ready for a big date or a big competition?
Nervous energy…
Heart beating fast…
That giddy feeling…
Those stomach butterflies are real!
I’ve got that “the day is finally here” nervous feeling and it’s because I’m ready to share my website with you! There’s been a lot going on behind the scenes …all with you in mind and I can’t wait to share it with you!
Before we go any further let me introduce myself and my buddy, Ben. And later you’ll get to meet my soul-dog Teddie and our silly seeing eye dog school drop out, Cypress.
And who am I, you ask?
I’m an equine and canine photographer based in South Florida spreading smiles with images of the animals we love. Before landing right here talking with you about everything horses, dogs, and photography, I taught elementary school, earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, spent a summer in a sales job and then became a medical device rep. I guess I’m a Jack (or Jill) of all trades, master of…(some), I hope!
So if you’re a horse-lover, you’re in the right place! I hope to make you smile more and that’s a good thing for you and your horse according to the study titled Horses Remember If You Smiled or Frowned When They Last Saw You as seen in New Scientist Magazine based on the original study conducted by the Universities of Sussex and Portsmouth and originally appearing in Current Biology May 7, 2018 which proves horses are affected by our smiles and frowns. I know I’ve smiled at my horse a lot more since reading this!
In the coming months I plan to share images showing the special bond between humans and horses and highlight the beauty of these animals along with the lifestyle we enjoy because of them. Is mucking a stall a lifestyle event I enjoy? Hmmm… we’ll explore some of that too.
I’ll also take you behind the scenes showing some photography techniques with “how to” and “how I did this” blogs. We’ll explore Ben’s farm and all the animals (and there are many!), the antics of Tedie and Cypress, and take trips to photograph horses abroad such as these wild ponies of Assateague.
Before I go on…I promised you’d get to meet my soul-dog Tedie (on the left) and his goofy sidekick Cypress (on the right). Here they are and it appears they take their beach patrol job very seriously. I’ll tell you more about Cypress (named by Cypress Gardens for Southeastern Guide Dogs for the Blind) and Tedie in future blogs.
